This HUGE Easter Egg was made at the Chocolate Deli – The Jinney Ring Craft Centre, Hanbury (near Bromsgrove UK) to raise money for the Urology Dept at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch. This film by Derick Groves shows images of mothers, once blind from cataracts, who could not see their children. It highlights the story of Tashi, a little girl in Tibet whose mother was blind. Tashi had to look after her blind mother for 2 years, from age 4 to 6. They lived on the street in Nagchu, Tibet and each day Tashi led her mother by the hand through the streets to beg for enough food for them to survive. One day Tashi heard that the Seva eye care team was coming and she urged her mother to get care. After surgeries on both eyes to remove the cataracts, Chime was able to see, to get a job and Tashi was able to go to school. This Mother’s Day, instead of giving flowers and chocolate, you can give your mother a unique gift — the gift of sight to a blind woman or child in the developing world. Worldwide there are 45 million blind people; 30 million of them are women and girls. 80% of these people could see if they had access to care, such as a cataract surgery that takes less than 15 minutes and costs or less.
